Visual, visual, visual >> visceral!
As I am busy readying my work for my Etsy shop (!!!), I had the idea that I would share a bit about my inspiration boards and the visual processing I did before getting into actually MAKING work for this first line of mine. Above are images taken of the mood boards that hang above my jeweler's bench. Included is a combination of material references, magazine tear-sheets, pulls from my sketchbooks, and compiled visual references from my extensive web research.
There's a bit more than meets the eye here. In a very "I-clearly-worked-in-the-design-studio-of-a-major-fashion-brand," my mood boards for this 'season' are thematically divided. I will, however, draw the line at writing flowery, adjective-heavy 'blurbs' for the L.A. offices. Heh.
My four thematic moods this season:
- BOLD / QUIXOTIC
- FOUNDATION COURSE AT ART SCHOOL
- WEST OF EDEN
- THREAD-BANGER
In the next few days, I'll be posting some fun FASHION IMAGERY (wahoo! This blog has missed you!), which correlates with each theme, to give a better idea about where these ideas come from.
I'm a super process-oriented designer, and a lot of what I do is visual research. It's half the fun, and it is the jumping-off point from where my maker's intuition takes over. Fundamental!
I hope you enjoy the series!!
Thanks for stopping by, and hey! I'd love to hear what you think!
